Google Publisher Plugin for WordPress

Google Publisher Plugin - WordPress

Good news for Google Adsense publishers. Yesterday, Google officially launched their second WordPress plugin – the Google Publisher Plugin. This plugin integrates Google Adsense and Webmaster Tools into your admin interface.

Now, you can easily insert Adsense ads into various parts your WordPress blog without messing with any files or coding. And with a single click, you can verify your site with Webmaster Tools. Currently, this plugin only works with the self-hosted version of WordPress – it will not work with WordPress.com.

Like most apps created by Google, this plugin is super simple to use. Once logged into your WordPress account and you have activated the plugin, you will have to log in to your Google account in order to use the plugin.

After you have verified your Google account, you simply click on “Manage ads,” and a new page opens up where you’re given options to place ads in certain sections of your site. For visual people, it’s perfect because it shows you exactly where the ad will appear.

This plugin was just released and is still in beta, so the features are very limited. It only gives you three basic ad layouts: Automatic, Horizontal, and Vertical. It does not give you the option to play around with ad settings, such as ad size, color themes, or fonts. You’re stuck with the default ad settings you have in your Adsense account. Also, you will not be able to place the ads within widgets or custom CSS styles.

I can only recommend this plugin to those who have absolutely no technical capabilities. For those who know how to insert Google Adsense on their own, I wouldn’t recommend it just yet. Its features are too limited at this point.
